Processor: MV-5
AV Surround Sound Processor
Price: £3495
At its heart, the MV-5 is a multi-faceted audio and video preamplifier with built-in processing. In addition, the MV-5 can accommodate a pair of HDMI source devices and can connect directly to a PC via USB, enabling the control and playback of streaming audio files. With the optional dock accessory, iPod owners can even play their iPod® music through the MV-5.
Drawing from Lexicon’s background and expertise, the MV-5 processor features the latest version of Lexicon’s critically acclaimed Logic 7® decoding. The calling card of all Lexicon processors, Logic 7 has been widely praised for its ability to greatly enhance the listening experience of any type of source material – whether it is music, film, TV, or even video games. Using Logic 7 with your system means that your music sounds more natural – more like you’d hear it at a live event; movies are more compelling, drawing you deeper into the illusion of being there; and video games put you right in the middle of the action. There’s very little that Logic 7 can’t improve, and it’s just one more reason why Lexicon products are considered to be the best in the industry. The MV-5 features an automated procedure for use in speaker setup, which also performs system equalization. Most equalization systems simply knock down the peaks in the response, but the MV-5 calibrates the system more intelligently – compensating for frequency response aberrations and varied speaker performance, while balancing the entire system for the best overall results. In addition, the MV-5 is capable of storing different calibrations, so up to three different listening positions can be recalled at the touch of a button. The end result is a system that optimizes the sound quality where it counts the most – at your seat!
The MV-5 is the first Lexicon processor to feature integrated Faroudja® video processing technology. With this superior video capability, the MV-5 can take any incoming video format and up-convert it to HDMI output, so a single HDMI cable can be utilized between the MV-5 and the video display. The MV-5 can also scale the video to 720p or 1080i output resolution for improved video performance from standard definition sources. In addition, the MV-5 has two menu pages, per input, devoted solely to advanced user-adjustable video processing features such as Faroudja’s DCDi®, designed to smooth out the jagged edges caused when video is de-interlaced. Film mode detection, another option, automatically identifies film sources and restores the proper frame sequence, and the noise reduction option helps to minimize the noise often contained within analog video signals. Also included are basics such as brightness, sharpness, and contrast.
The remote control, included with the MV-5, is a full-featured universal controller, designed to run your whole home theater system. Containing an extensive library of pre-programmed infrared codes, the MV-5 remote control can replace virtually any other product remote control. This powerful remote also has the ability to learn commands from other remote controls, as well as a suite of built-in customizable features. Coupled with the RF receiver option, you’ll have the power to control your home theater system – from virtually anywhere in your home. This is particularly useful in installations where the MV-5 is hidden out of sight or for users who already have a control system for the home theater and want to use the MV-5 remote control from another room. The MV-5 provides several other useful features including a RS-232 port for use with bi-directional control systems as well as an IR input jack for IR based control systems. And to keep pace with today’s rapidly changing technology, the MV-5 has two new features never-before offered in a Lexicon product. You can now listen to the music on your PC with all of the power and performance of the MV-5, using a USB connection. And with the optional dock accessory, you can enter a new world of listening enjoyment through the combination of the storage capacity and playback flexibility of an iPod with the sonic power of the MV-5. The connected iPod can even be controlled seamlessly from the remote control or RS-232 port. Since the MV-5 front panel and on-screen displays keep you informed of what is happening, you don’t even need to see the iPod to control it.
A flexible menu structure, audio and video processing, automated calibration and EQ, in-depth customization, multimedia playback features… the MV-5 represents a new age of audio and video processing equipment from Lexicon. We invite you to experience the MV-5 for yourself.

Processor: MC-12B EQ
THX Ultra 2: 12 Channel Digital AV Controller. V5 With Room EQ. Lexicon LIVE!
Price: £8995
The new MC-12B V5EQ is a powerful tool that allows the user to find and correct for problematic low frequencies in the listening space, yet is easy to operate and requires only a small amount of user interaction to achieve superior results.
Version 5.0 EQ continues Lexicon’s improvement programme. Retaining all elements of V4EQ software V5 adds in a newly designed implementation of Logic 7 moving the MC-12 still further ahead of the competition. Finally is the unique Lexicon LIVE! system. When used in conjunction with the optional AKG studio microphone kit Lexicon LIVE! is able to create an expansive soundstage when live vocalists or musicians are performing within the listening room. Both Room EQ and LIVE! require the optional AKG microphone kit.
Designed by Lexicon’s Chief Scientist, Dr. David Griesinger, and Dr. James Muller, the V5 EQ is a ground-breaking room equalization tool, which doubles the amount of processing available to the MC-12B, and provides up to seven filters per channel for up to ten output channels. Four microphones, designed to meet Lexicon’s stringent requirements for room analysis, enable optimisation for the entire listening area. V5 EQ uses thorough and advanced room analysis techniques and is completely integrated with existing processing so that no additional A/D/A conversion is required.
Lexicon’s MC-12B V5 EQ is capable of identifying problem frequencies to within 0.732Hz – 10 times more precise than a graphic EQ at the low frequencies under consideration. It requires an enormous amount of processing power so that detailed correction can be applied to all channels: seven filters for each of the seven main channel outputs and three subwoofer outputs. The additional DSP ensures that the best results can be obtained for all of the speakers in the system.
V5 Room EQ Technology
Lexicon takes an approach to solving the problems of room equalization that delivers better results than traditional methods, which simply attempt to flatten the frequency response of the listening room.
Lexicon’s V5 EQ algorithm measures the decay times of the room resonance modes and prioritises those with long decay times as being the most important to correct. This approach has far more impact on the audio experience than merely flattening the frequency response. Another benefit of using this method is that the long decay times occur throughout the room; correcting them for one listening position also fixes them for others, resulting in a more uniform experience from seat to seat.
Unlike other EQ solutions, V5 EQ utilizes four microphones, allowing detection of room modes that would be missed by systems that employ only a single microphone. Using four microphones also provides improved accuracy resulting from correlated measurements. Lexicon Microphone Kit purchased separately.
V5 Room EQ can be purchased as an upgrade to existing MC12 controllers. Please note that if not installed, V3.0 firmware and software must be fitted. A Lexicon Microphone Kit is also required, ask you dealer for details.
